This bookcase was designed to both save space and let the wall that it was built in maintain it’s character. The 70 mm deep gypsum block wall was cut open and a 294 mm deep bookshelf was made with a 6 mm closing panel at the back. The result is a bookshelf matching the wall and storage room space loss of only 230 mm behind the wall in the storage was kept at a minimum.
The bookcase is made of basic MDF. The MDF was sanded (up to 180), grounded, filled and sanded with 180 again. The finishing was done with Ral 9010, matching the latex used on the wall. Floor skirt left-overs were used on the cabinet front connecting it smoothly to the wall of the room.
